After serving two terms on the Westminster Town School Board beginning in the late '80's I was appointed to fill an unexpired term on Bellows Falls Union High School board representing Westminster. I have subsequently been reelected several more times. My current term expires in March 2024.
As for why I do it, It's because I enjoy trying to help BFUHS meet the challenge of providing young men & women with the lifelong skills they will need in order to live successful lives.

My passion for education started at age three when I taught lessons to my dolls. I attended school and graduated from BF, like my parents, three of my five children, and one of my grandchildren. I value education and earned a BS in Elementary Ed at UVM, an MS in Counseling at Jacksonville State, and a CAS ( Certificate of Advanced Studies) in Education at Johns Hopkins.
During my teaching career, I taught a variety of different subjects and ages of students from preschool through college graduate classes. Since my husband was in military service, we lived a variety of places before coming back home. My last 25 years of teaching in public education were in special education at BFUHS with the distinction of being highly qualified in math, science, social studies, and English.
I currently teach Tai Chi at the BF Senior Center. In the community, I also participate with the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), the BF Women’s Club, Women’s Fellowship through my church, the Windham County Retired Teachers, and my BF High School class gatherings and Women’s Luncheons.
As a member of the school board and board committees, I aim to make sure students have the opportunity for an excellent educational experience and that the districts and administration are accountable and transparent to all in their use of public funds. I welcome the chance to discuss and address community and staff concerns.

In 2021 I founded a nonprofit called Bellows Falls Trades; we are partnered with the BFUHS administration/guidance and support their “work-based” education initiative. I will continue to look for ways to advance the work-based and financial literacy efforts at the high school.
In my role on the board, I will continue to look for ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency by which we prepare our young adults for success in today’s challenging and changing economy and work environment.

I am a 1990 graduate of BFUHS and have been in educational leadership for the past 24-plus years. I am finishing my Doctorate program in Educational Leadership and have experience working on state associations' executive committees and with boards.
As a board member, I will work to make sure that my role as a board member is to see the "BIG' picture in providing oversight and accountability while allowing the administration and faculty to handle the day-to-day management of the school. I will actively listen to our community members and taxpayers and commit to doing what is right, despite opposition.
A district's vision should be to set goals for what education will look like for our children over the next generation. I will be an engaging presence in the community supporting students' education.
Finally, I grew up in Bellows Falls and learned to succeed and fail. I credit my parents, brothers, teachers, and coaches, who were interested in helping me navigate life. Those experiences helped lay the foundation of my journey. I want to give back to the community that helped mold my values and impact the next generation of leaders.

I am a Westminster resident and parent of two young kids. I work as a communications specialist for a sustainable agriculture organization that focuses on research and farmer-driven innovations in agriculture. I have joined this board to work collaboratively in achieving goals for the school on behalf of the students and families in our communities. And, as someone who personally benefited from public education, I want to do my part to ensure my kids, and all the children in our community, get a similar opportunity.

As a Rockingham-based business and home owner, with many grandchildren in our school district, I put my faith and my energies into Rockingham. Having been a Bellows Falls village president and trustee since 2011, I continue to serve my community as a Rockingham Town Planner, Justice of the Peace and Notary Public. Having been a BFUHS board member since 2016, I return with renewed energy from a few months' respite to add my talents and my time to the future of our Bellows Falls Union High School. The future is now.

I am looking forward to listening to those involved with BFUHS Board work and to find consensus.
Together we can work to help our local students learn and grow into strong thinkers and become do-ers.
I have lived in and voted in 7 US states which has taught me that there are sometimes more than one good solution to a problem.
Grafton has been my home since 2011, though I have roots in Vermont which go back to the 1960s.
