Child Find Notice - 2025-2026
Windham Northeast Supervisory Union (WNESU) is committed to identifying and supporting children with disabilities who may need special education services. In accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA 2004, P.L. 108-446) and Vermont Special Education Rule 2360.1, we are required to locate, identify, and evaluate all children residing in our communities—from birth through age 21—who may have a disability and are in need of special education or related services.
This includes children who are:

Enrolled in public, private, or home-study programs

Highly mobile or experiencing homelessness

In foster care

Not currently enrolled in any school program
Early Childhood Developmental Screenings
Our Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Program offers free developmental screenings throughout the school year for preschool-aged children and infants. These screenings are available by appointment and are designed to support early identification and intervention for developmental concerns.

All information shared during the referral or screening process is kept confidential in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and IDEA requirements. Personally identifiable information is used only for the purpose of determining eligibility and planning services.
