Printed Materials

Printed materials (flyers, letters, posters, handouts) should be easy to read and comfortable to use. The paper type and finish can affect readability. Build your content first, then choose a format that gives the information enough space and “breathing room.” Avoid materials that create glare or make text hard to see.

Printed materials tips

  • Use matte paper when possible (it reduces glare and is easier to read).
  • Avoid glossy paper, especially for materials with lots of text.
  • If you’re using a print vendor, request a paper sample before placing a large order.
  • If available, ask for examples of past prints on the same paper to confirm the final look and readability.
