Student Data Privacy
Our Commitment to Data Privacy
WNESU is committed to protecting student and staff data by ensuring all digital tools and applications meet privacy and security standards. We follow strict guidelines to comply with federal laws such as FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act).
A4L / Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC)
WNESU is an active member of the Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC) through A4L, ensuring that all applications used within our district are vetted and have an approved data privacy agreement in place. This process ensures that student data is handled securely and in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Approved Applications
Before using any new digital tool, it must be reviewed and have a signed agreement in place. You can view the full list of approved applications for our district at in our Student Data Privacy Registry.
What This Means for Staff & Students
- Only approved applications should be used for instruction and administrative purposes.
- Data privacy agreements must be in place before requesting new software.
- Teachers & staff should consult the SDPC registry before introducing new tools to students.
Requesting a New Application
If you need a new app or digital tool that is not on the approved list:
-
Check the SDPC Registry to see if an agreement already exists.
-
Submit a request through our Software & Purchasing Request Process.
-
The Technology Department will review the application and start the review and vetting process.
