Superintendent's Welcome

WNESU Newsletter

September, 2020

Dear Windham Northeast Supervisory Union Students, Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year. First, let me start by sharing with you how excited we are to have the students back with us. As you all know, we are in the middle of unprecedented times and I know that we will get through it together.  As the year progresses, we will continue to revisit the current model so we can make the necessary updates when circumstances change to ensure we are meeting the students’ needs in the most effective and safe manner possible.  I would like to encourage you all to  continue to communicate with your SU and building administration and educators. Every staff member has been working very hard to prepare for a school year that is full of unknowns.

As we start our first full week of school on Monday, September 14th, I would like to share that the first week of having students for the half days went very well.  Students and teachers have been following the plan that was created. Reports to me from the Principals said that, “We had a lot of happy students and parents with very few tears” and “We are all just glad to have our students back with us.”

Even with everything going on, a new year always gives us the opportunity to make new plans, design new strategies, and implement new ideas. Whether one's responsibility is administrating, supervising, teaching, preparing lunches, maintaining the buildings, or managing an office, there is always room for improvement and for new ways to do a job even better, especially during these COVID -19 times.

Students' health and safety is the primary concern of every faculty and staff member in Windham Northeast. During these unique times, we need to put this at the forefront before we can provide our students with an enriched positive educational experience. As educators we are all prepared to offer the time and support to ensure success for every student. As Superintendents, Dr. Carey and I will continue to listen, observe, and meet with people to identify what works well and what things can be improved upon. I'm sure that the faculty, staff, and administration will assist you all, and together, we can forge ahead and continue to build upon the success of each school.

Please get in the habit of going to your school's website, at wnesu.org, and any school Facebook pages. The schools use web sites and other social media as an essential communication and resource tool for the community and families throughout WNESU.

Last, but not least, please don't hesitate to contact us for assistance with any questions or concerns you may have.  Once again, we look forward to welcoming you to another educationally enriching and rewarding school year in Windham Northeast Supervisory Union.

Regards,

Christopher A. Pratt
