Dear Families,
Parent-Teacher Conferences are going well. I am relishing the luxury of a big chunk of time with each family rather than the briefer chats we are able to have at pick up and drop off. I learn so much from families about the children we teach. It really helps us to hear from you about your children- you know them better than we ever will!
The school year is now humming along, both groups have added a few new children, and they have seamlessly joined the flow. In the classroom we are busy as usual, working, playing, learning. Both groups are moving into a study of ourselves- the study will look different with the each group, as they are very different developmentally.
The study of ourselves is a fundamental Social Studies topic for preschoolers. In this focus, children identify and analyze how individuals relate to one another; they explore their similarities and differences. Children love to talk about themselves and are becoming increasingly interested in their classmates. This focus helps them to learn about each other while establishing their individual identities in the group.
THANK YOU!!!!
*To everyone who brought in treats for Halloween/Pajama Day: Jenny Boucher, Ashlynn’s Mom; Lauren Kelley, Ethan’s Mom; Rita Fletcher, Sierra’s Mom; and Myriah Clark, Ella’s Mom.
*To all of our parent volunteers- I hope you enjoy your time in the classroom as much as we enjoy having you here!
*To Jordan Fletcher, Aiden’s dad: for buying, picking up, and delivering sand for our playground sand table.
*To Vaughn Perkins, Rowan’s Dad, for hauling away our giant, dead sunflower stalks.
ODDS AND ENDS...
*Lauren Kelley, Ethan’s Mom, is updating the phone/email list for the TuTh group. If you would like to give out your number (or email address) within the TuTh group there is a sign-up list on the bulletin board. If a MWF parent volunteer wants to gather and distribute a phone list so MWF families can call classmates for play dates, etc. please let me know.
*Please sign up for a parent conference on the bulletin board in the classroom. I am available to meet with you either at the school or at your home, although families new to the school should try to sign up for a home visit. Our conference should take about 30 minutes. I tried to schedule a range of times to accommodate everyone’s needs. Please let me know if the times don’t work for you, we can make different arrangements.
*We’d love some help raking/shoveling some playground wood chips back into place under the swings before the ground freezes. Talk to me or Lisa if you can help…
*Like all WNESU Schools, we are closed Tues. 11/25 for Parent Conferences, and we are closed 11/26 – 11/28 for Thanksgiving Recess.
Thanks for all you do,
Jennifer
