School Board Meeting
February 8, 2010

1. Call to Order:
The Chair, David Clark, called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m.
2. Adjustments to Agenda:
Item 6(A), Bid Specifications for Large Bus, has been removed from the agenda.
3. Consent Items:
There being no objection, the Chair declared that the minutes of January 25, 2010 are approved as presented.
4. Communications and Public Comments:
Barbara Comtois’ letter congratulating the Sophmore Class for their recent fundraiser at the Moose Family Lodge was read.
Stephen Major noted that although he did not intended to run for re-election, in the absence of another Westminster candidate, he will accept the position if he receives the requisite number of write-in votes.
5. Reports:
A. Principal
(1) Athletic Injury Procedures
A look is being taken at how the school manages athletic injuries. With the assistance of the school’s Athletic Trainer, updated procedures are being drafted.
(2) At the board’s next meeting, Principal Hodsden hopes to bring a candidate forward for the Academic Support Room position.
(3) NECAP Results
School results were reviewed and compared with prior year statistics and state averages.

B. Superintendent of Schools
Commissioner Vilaseca plans to attend the WNESU Board meeting on February 24, 2010.
C. Technical Center Representatives
SVCC – Open House was held last week.
RVTC – FY2011 budget was distributed
D. Student Representative

The next WNESU Board meeting is scheduled for February 24, 2010, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Chair appointed Laurie Rowell as a representative in the absence of Russ Capron.
F. Committees and Special Projects
(1) Long-Term Planning
Minutes of the January 11, 2010 meeting were included in the agenda packet.
(2) Instruction and Educational Effectiveness Committee
Minutes of the January 25, 2010 meeting were included in the agenda packet.
(3) Rockingham’s Article 6 Study Committee
Minutes of the January 28, 2010 meeting were included in the agenda packet.
(4) Building and Grounds
A meeting has been planned for this week, but the administration is not sure if it was properly warned.
6. Business for Discussion/Action:
A. Carpet Bids
Jan Mitchell-Love moved to accept the bid of Monadnock Flooring at a cost of $68,886, as recommended by the administration. The motion passed on a vote of six in favor (Mitchell-Love, Rowell, Perry, Guild, Major, Axtell) and one abstention (Fine).

7. Appointments and/or Resignations:
A. Spring Coaches
Jan Mitchell-Love moved to approve the following spring coach appointments: Robert Lockerby (Varsity Baseball), Ryan Stoodley and Don Laurend (shared position JV Baseball), Pete Fry (softball), Tim Eno (Track), Brad Hammond (Assistant Track), Craig Divis (Varsity Girls’ Tennis). The motion passed unanimously.
B. Shared Special Education Lead Teacher Position
Jan Mitchell-Love moved to approve a Special Education Lead Teacher Position shared between Linda Prinsen and Susan Rugg for the remainder of the 2002010 school year. The motion passed.
8. Directors’ Comments:
Laurie Rowell continues to hear negative comments about Senior Projects from parents. Ms. Rowell also noted that she was impressed with the way she observed the Athletic Director handling a situation involving male students recently.
The Chair stated that he would like to have the opportunity to continue as Chairperson for another year.
9. Date of Next Meeting:
The Chair set the date of the next meeting for February 24, 2010, beginning at 5:55 p.m. in the BFUHS Library.

11. Adjournment:
Jan Mitchell-Love moved to adjourn at 8:15 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
